The coaching staff at Central Catholic is committed to excellence. They are seasoned players and teachers who focus on the needs and skills of the team as players and students. Their goal is to help youth reach their potential, helping them gain confidence and develop skills that will help them on the pitch and in life.

Head Coach

Ben Fiore



Ben is heading into his first season as the head coach of the Vikings. He is entering the 9 th year of

his coaching career having previously coached at the University of Pittsburgh- Greensburg as an

assistant, as well as head coaching stops at Kiski Area High School and Ambridge area high

school where he was awarded the WPIAL coach of the year award in 2021. In 2021 Fiore led

Ambridge to the PIAA playoffs as the third place team in AA and the following year in 2022

lead the Bridgers to the AAA WPIAL final as well as the PIAA quarterfinal. Before that, he was

an assistant at Leechburg and Great Falls Central Catholic (MT). Ben is also the Performance

Phase - Boys Classic Director at Steel City FC. Ben played as a forward at Kiski Area High

School and then went on to play a year of college ball at Montana State University- Great Falls

while also being active duty Air Force. Coach Fiore holds team culture and work ethic as the top

two priorities coming into this program. He supports Chelsea FC of the premier league.

Assistant Varsity Coach & Head JV Coach

Rick Zappone

Rick is one of our varsity assistant coaches and our JV lead coach. He is in his first season with

the Vikings. He brings with him over 15 years of coaching experience at the club level with

teams ranging from u8 to u19. Rick is also the former freshman team lead coach at Norwin. He

was a centerback most of his career as a player and has used that to become a defensively

minded tactician. Rick’s favorite pro club is Manchester United of the premier league.

Assistant Varsity Coach

Lucas is one of our varsity assistants. He is a Penn Trafford native where he played high school

soccer as a captain and left back along with club ball at AFFC and Riverhounds. Lucas went on

to play at the University of Pittsburgh- Greensburg for four years where he was also a captain

and left back. He is entering his first season with the Vikings, and his 3 rd year coaching in total

having previously been an assistant at Penn Trafford and currently is a club coach at PIFC. Lucas

is also a fan of Chelsea FC.

Assistant Varsity Coach & JV Assistant

Zach is one of our varsity and JV assistants this year. He is heading into his third season as a part

of the Vikings’ coaching staff. He is a 2013 graduate of Central Catholic where he played all four

years and was an All- Section, All-WPIAL and All-State selection his senior year. He went on to

play at Case Western Reserve University as a four year starter and captain as a forward.

Zach takes a lot of pride in being Central Catholic alumni and is here to help the team in any way he can!

He is also loyal to his favorite club team which is Manchester United of the premier league.

Freshman Head Coach

Sean Neely

Sean is the head Freshman soccer coach and teaches English at Central Catholic. He graduated from North Hills High School in 2008 and was an All-Section Goalkeeper during his senior year. After being recruited by several colleges, Sean played soccer for three years at Penn State Behrend, where he received his English degree. Sean has been with the CCHS for nearly 10 years and has coached both the Freshman and JV teams.
